1. The service
LawandLegal provides practice management (matters, people, billing records, document handling), a searchable corpus of Ghanaian legislation and case law, AI-assisted research and drafting tools, and a developer API. The service is provided over the web and as an installable progressive web app.
Not legal advice. The corpus, citator signals, analytics and AI outputs are research aids. They do not constitute legal advice and are not a substitute for professional judgement. You remain solely responsible for verifying any authority before relying on it in practice.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- Accounts are for named individuals; credentials may not be shared.
- Firm administrators are responsible for the users they invite and for removing users who leave the firm.
- You must give accurate registration details and keep them current. We may suspend accounts that appear to impersonate a lawyer or firm.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
3. Subscriptions, fees and taxes
Paid plans are billed in advance through our merchant of record, Polar, on a monthly or annual cycle, and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown on the pricing page and exclude taxes unless stated; Polar collects any applicable VAT or sales tax.
API plans are metered against the request allowance of the selected tier. Sustained overage may result in throttling or an upgrade request. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice, effective at your next renewal.
We do not process payments between you and your own clients. Invoices generated for your matters are record-keeping documents that you settle with your clients directly.
4. Acceptable use
- No bulk scraping, resale or redistribution of the corpus outside the documented API terms of your plan.
- No attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, tenancy boundaries or another firm's data.
- No uploading of malware, or of content you have no right to process.
- No use of the platform to facilitate unlawful activity or to violate the professional conduct rules applicable to you.
5. Your data and confidentiality
You retain all rights in the matter data, documents and client information you upload. You grant us a limited licence to host, process and transmit that content solely to operate the service for you. We treat it as confidential and do not use client content to train foundation models.
You may export your data at any time while your subscription is active. See the Privacy Policy for how personal data is handled.
6. Availability and support
Target availability, support response times and maintenance practice are set out in the Service Level Commitment.
7. Suspension and termination
You may cancel at any time from billing settings; access continues to the end of the paid period. We may suspend or terminate an account for non-payment, for a material breach of these terms, or where continued use poses a security or legal risk. On termination we retain your data for 30 days so you can export it, then delete it.
8. Warranties and liability
The service is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the corpus is complete, current or free of transcription error, nor that AI output is accurate.
To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost business or missed limitation periods.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have exclusive jurisdiction.
