Ghana case law search

Search Ghanaian judgments online by legal concept rather than by citation alone. LawandLegal indexes over 460,000 passages drawn from Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court decisions together with the Acts and instruments they turn on.

What the library covers

Superior court judgments

Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court decisions delivered from 1992 onwards, reported and unreported, each with court, suit number and date of delivery.

Legislation and instruments

Acts of Parliament, Legislative Instruments and Executive Instruments, with amendment chains linking a principal enactment to the instruments that changed it.

Practice materials

Practice notes and procedural rules, including the High Court Civil Procedure Rules, C.I. 47, indexed alongside the judgments that interpret them.

How counsel search here

1. Search the question, not the citation

Ask 'when will a Ghanaian court set aside a default judgment' and the library returns the passages that answer it, each anchored to its judgment.

2. Narrow by court and year

Filter to the Supreme Court, a date range or a document type when you need binding authority rather than persuasive commentary.

3. Check the citator signals

See whether a decision has been followed, distinguished, doubted or overruled before it goes into a submission.

4. Save the passage to a case

Attach the authority to a case file so it travels with the pleading, the affidavit and the eventual bundle.
